Frequently asked questionsEverything you want to know

Answers to the questions we get most often, sorted by subject. Can't find yours? Email us at info@nextgen-tennis.nl and we will get back to you.

1Trial lesson and getting to know us

Yes. We schedule a few trial lesson moments each season, usually on a Sunday, with a separate hour for juniors and a separate hour for adults. You sign up through the trial lesson form, after which we send you the date and time.

The trial lesson is free and without obligation.

When the groups are full we do not schedule individual trial lessons. You can register for the next season instead, and treat your first lesson as a trial. If it is not for you, you are not tied to anything.

If you have a racket, bring it along. If not, you can borrow one from us free of charge. For children we always have rackets available during the first lessons.

Beyond that, sports clothing and tennis shoes are enough; we provide the balls. Just starting out and thinking of buying your own racket? Ask your coach, who will gladly help you choose.

Let us know by email. We schedule trial lessons together on a few set moments, so an individual alternative is not always possible. If it does not work out, we will put you on the list for the next trial lesson moment.

No, you do not need to be a member for a trial lesson. If you go on to take lessons, ZLTB membership is required.

2Scheduling, lesson times and groups

As soon as registration closes we put the schedule together. We email it to everyone, with the day, the time, the court, the group and the coach.

For the winter season that is around mid October, for the summer season around the end of March.

Email us. The schedule is a puzzle of availability, level and group size, and we cannot always place everyone at their preferred moment.

We will look for another spot that matches your level. If there is no suitable alternative, you can withdraw for that season at no cost.

Both, in that order. We look at level and age first, and then at the days and times you gave us. The less availability you give, the smaller the chance of a suitable group.

Mention it in the comments field when you register and we will take it into account. We cannot guarantee it, because level and group size come first.

A season consists of 16 lessons. We train every week, except during the school holidays for the northern region and a few public holidays. Lessons continue for a few weeks after the last holiday so that all 16 lessons are given.

The summer season runs from April through October, the winter season from October through March. You register per season, so you are never tied in for longer than one season.

Yes. In winter we train indoors in the heated hall at ZLTB. For the junior packages the court hire for the hall is included.

Please note: the number of courts in the hall is limited, so a place in the winter schedule is not guaranteed. With a group of 4 your chance of a place and your preferred time is the biggest.

It is not a tennis lesson but a group session focused on learning to move, coordination, speed, a bit of strength and tennis specific movement. Physical training is part of the committed package. Taking part is not compulsory.

3Registering and confirmation

Registering takes two forms. First you become a member of ZLTB through the form on zltb.nl, then you register for lessons through the form on nextgen-tennis.nl.

If you are already a ZLTB member, the second form is enough.

For the winter season registration opens at the beginning of October and lessons start late October or early November. For the summer season registration opens in March and lessons start in April.

You receive a confirmation email after registering. If it did not arrive, check your spam folder first and otherwise send us an email.

No. Registering means you are included in the scheduling. With many sign-ups it can happen that there is no suitable group. We will let you know as soon as the schedule is final, and in that case you pay nothing.

Yes, email us and we will note you down. If a place opens up we will get in touch. For the next season you do need to register again through the form.

4Costs, invoices and payment

The rates per package are on the website. The lesson fee depends on the group size and the number of lessons per week. ZLTB membership comes on top of that.

Yes. If you gave a SEPA mandate when registering, the amount is collected automatically. You do not need to transfer anything yourself.

For the summer season we send the invoices before the May holiday at the latest. Junior lessons are invoiced in instalments.

Groups that train entirely indoors receive an invoice for 16 lessons in advance. Groups that alternate between indoors and outdoors pay afterwards, because the number of lessons that went ahead depends on the weather.

That can be correct. For juniors the website shows the monthly rate, while an invoice can cover a whole season or several instalments. With the committed package the physical training is added.

Does it still look wrong to you? Email us and we will explain.

Email us with the invoice number. We will put it right and refund anything you overpaid.

5What we offer, packages and level

For adults there is a group of 8, a group of 4, duo lessons, private lessons and a custom package, each once or twice a week.

For juniors we work with the KNLTB colours Red, Orange, Green and Yellow, in a basic version and a committed version that includes physical training.

Pick the playing level you are at now, from 9 for beginners to 1 for advanced players. If you are not sure, give your best guess and mention in the comments how many years you have played.

You do not have to guess exactly right: we look at the mix of the group when scheduling, and in the first lessons your coach will quickly see what suits you. If a group turns out not to fit, we move you.

Absolutely. We have groups for complete beginners, both for juniors and for adults.

Yes, private and single lessons are possible by arrangement. Email us with your preferred day and time.

No. NextGen Tennis does not offer Tenniskids Blue or adapted tennis.

Yes. We run tennis clinics at schools in and around Zwolle. Interested on behalf of your school? Email us at info@nextgen-tennis.nl or call +31 6 23 00 15 89 and we will discuss what is possible.

6Student discount

Yes, students get 15% off the lesson fee.

Register as a regular participant and tick the box that you are a student. Then email info@nextgen-tennis.nl with proof of enrolment from your course. A screenshot of your student card or DUO registration is enough.

We apply the discount on the invoice.

The discount applies only to full-time students with a DUO registration. Employer-funded courses are excluded.

7Stopping, cancelling and changing your details

You register for one season. After that you decide again whether to continue, so you are never tied in for longer than a single season.

Send an email to info@nextgen-tennis.nl. You can be deregistered straight away, in which case invoicing stops from the next month. You can also finish the current season, in which case invoicing continues until the end of that season.

Tell us in your email which you prefer.

No, those are two separate things. You cancel the lessons with NextGen Tennis and the membership with the ZLTB membership administration. The KNLTB does not process anything itself; it follows automatically once ZLTB deregisters you.

Email us the correct detail and we will change it. If it concerns your membership details, also let the ZLTB membership administration know.

That should not happen. Email us and we will remove the registration from the system and correct the invoices.

8ZLTB and KNLTB membership

Yes. If you take lessons at NextGen Tennis you also need to be a ZLTB member. That membership is separate from the lesson fee and is charged by the club.

You get something in return: as a member you can play freely outside your lesson, join club activities and play in competitions. You can sign up through the ZLTB website.

The fee and the term are on zltb.nl. Membership runs per club year, not per lesson season.

We advise you to wait until you have our confirmation that you have been placed in a group. After that, make sure you sign up with ZLTB within two weeks.

Competitions run through ZLTB and the KNLTB. You need a KNLTB membership for that, which runs through your ZLTB membership. Signing up for a team goes through the ZLTB technical committee.

9Absence, catching up and cancelled lessons

We do not offer catching up with another group as standard. We cannot keep track of who catches up when, and before you know it there are ten people on court.

You are welcome to contact another group yourself to join them once, in consultation with the coach.

You cancel through your group's WhatsApp group or directly with your coach. Ask your coach to add you to the group chat.

A lesson you miss yourself remains at your own expense.

Groups that train entirely indoors are not affected: all 16 lessons go ahead.

Groups that alternate between indoors and outdoors pay afterwards, based on the number of lessons that went ahead. The first cancelled lesson is at the participant's expense, the second at the coach's, the third at the participant's again, and so on.

If a lesson is cancelled because the coach is unavailable, we always arrange a replacement or a new date. The details are in the terms and conditions.

Get in touch with us. If you are out for a longer period we will look at a suitable solution together, for example a way to catch up the lessons in the next season.

Still have a question?

We are happy to help. Send us an email or give us a call, we usually reply the same day.

Or go straight to the lesson packages or the registration form.
